Grah Pravesh ka Muhurat 2022

Hindu House Warming Ceremony Grah Pravesh ka Muhurat 2022

Moving into your new home is an exciting moment. It signals the beginning of a new chapter in your life, and you might be feeling anxious about how to make it feel like “home.”

If you’re looking for some tips on how to celebrate this special occasion, look no further than the Hindu tradition of Grah Pravesh. This ritual is held when a person moves into a new house for the first time, and it’s considered one of the most auspicious times to perform it.

Griha Pravesh involves several rituals:

Puja

The puja is performed on an auspicious day. Traditionally, this is done two days after moving into the house. You can opt for any day, but we recommend choosing Friday or Saturday because these are considered good luck days in Hinduism. If possible, we recommend performing both ceremonies on the same day so that they align with each other rather than being split up over multiple days (for example, one on Thursday morning and another on Friday afternoon).

Rituals

There are many rituals associated with Griha Pravesh—they vary depending on which tradition you follow—but they all include chanting mantras, lighting lamps, and incense.

Vastu prayers

Before entering the house, vastu pooja is performed for the vastu devata outside. Water, navadhanya (nine different types of grains), and a rupee coin are placed in a copper kettle. The pot is then covered with coconut. The crimson fabric and moli, or red thread, are used to cover the coconut. After the priest completes the pooja, the husband and wife bring the copper pot inside and set it close to the havan (ceremonial fire).

The Vastu Shanti

Havan is a component of Vastu Shanti or Griha Shanti. A havan is conducted to counteract bad planetary effects, eliminate unfavorable vibrations, and foster tranquility. A feast is provided for the priest once all of the poojas are complete. Additionally, he receives some Dakshina, or payment for his assistance and well wishes.

Both of these poojas are necessary. Other poojas, such as the Lakshmi, Satyanarayan, and Ganpathi poojas, are optional and may be conducted at the priest’s recommendation.

What you shouldn’t do when doing Griha Pravesh

Griha Pravesh is not finished before:

  • The home’s doors have shutters, the roof is covered,
  • When the homeowner is pregnant, there should not have a housewarming ceremony.
  • The Gods of Vastu have been worship or offer sacrifices,
  • The priests have been offered feast,

If the aforementioned factors are not taken into account while moving into a new home, they may cause problems and misery for the occupants. Living in a home should therefore only be viewed until all rites have been performed according to the instructions outlined in the scriptures.

The family can move inside the residence after the griha Pravesh rite is over. For a few days, the house shouldn’t be lock because doing so is unlucky.
